Lorraine Kelly blasts Harvey Weinstein's 'sympathy zimmer' during court appearance

Lorraine Kelly has taken aim at Harvey Weinstein following his during court appearance which saw him found guilty of rape.

It appears that the Scottish host does not buy his use of walking aids, which is said to be due to ill health.

There have been moments that Weinstein has managed without it - such as when he was escorted out of the court in handcuffs - and Loraine today said she believes it was just for "sympathy".

She made the dig during her ITV programme’s link up to Good Morning Britain, where she was telling Susanna Reid and Bill Turnbull what was coming up on the show.

She said: “Wasn’t it interesting that Harvey Weinstein dumped the sympathy zimmer - remember the sympathy zimmer he used to get into court? Funnily enough that was away... fascinating.”

To which Susanna chipped in: “And replaced by handcuffs as he is taken away.”

Lorraine continued: “Indeed. He looked like he couldn’t believe what was happening to him.”

Lorraine, 60, also took a moment to mention the “powerful” interview that had just taken place on GMB with Rose McGowan - one of the disgraced Hollywood producer’s accusers who was instrumental in the creation of the #MeToo movement.

Rose spoke in the wake of Weinstein, 67, being found guilty of rape in the third degree and a criminal sexual act in the first degree.

He was cleared of two charges of predatory sexual assault and one count of rape in the first degree and could now face up to 25 years behind bars.

Lorraine said of the interview with Rose: “That was incredible wasn’t it? It was so, so powerful. She’s been through such a lot, that poor girl, absolutely terrible.”

The host then went on to explain that another of Weinstein’s accusers was being interviewed on Lorraine.

Weinstein has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 11.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
