Lorraine Kelly blasts 'daft' BBC for axing Holby City as last show looms

Lorraine Kelly has joined a host of fans to protest about Holby City's impending end.

Lorraine has been vocal before about her disproval of the BBC drama coming off air in March.

And now that its final days are nearing, the ITV host is having her say yet again about the 'daft decision' of bosses to axe the long-running medical series.

Lorraine told Twitter followers earlier today: "Can’t believe the BBC have axed @BBCHolbyCity - especially now. Daft decision."

Lorraine's fresh criticisms come as beloved character Jac Naylor's brain tumour became terminal.

Amidst news the popular character is terminal, fans around the country have become dismayed about the programme finishing before the storyline is properly concluded.

They feel in particular with plots like Jacs, it's the "worst thing" that could happen.

Some even suggested they needed counselling.

One person wrote: " @BBCHolbyCity don’t have any words at this point… that broke me… genuinely.. the pain I felt in those ending moments is enough to push anyone over…"

Another said: "This is so heartbreaking for Jac Naylor played by the wonderful Rosie Marcel and Nicky Mckendrick played by Belinda Owusu. heartbreaking ending ."

Someone else added: "I completely agree.. I have watched this from day 1 and felt quite bereft watching last nights, the end was clearly in site!!"

And a fourth sighed: "I'm staying hopeful to the end that they won't. No point mourning until it happens, well the death part, the going off air I've mourned since they announced it."

A fifth added: "Can we cope with any more emotions, we will all need counselling."

Lorraine told actor Trieve Blackwood last year: "Look Trieve, I’m not happy. I’m not happy at all."

"I’ll tell you why – it’s because it’s going to be the end of Holby next year, and I know you’re going to go out all guns blazing, but me and the fellow fans are not happy!"
