Lorraine Kelly banned from having studio guests due to rise in coronavirus cases

Lorraine Kelly has revealed a ban has once again been placed on her having guests joining her in the studio of her ITV show due to a sharp rise in coronavirus infections.

There was a big first for the famous breakfast presenter at the start of this week when The Good Life legend Felcity Kendall was able to join her in person for an interview, marking the first time a guest, other than health expert Doctor Hilary Jones, had been allowed to be there.

But on Friday morning, Lorraine said that things will go back to how they were following the UK recording its highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases this year on Thursday.

Her admission also came as London was placed on the Government's watch list, in the same week that tighter restrictions were imposed on the whole country, with a 10pm curfew on all pubs, bars and restaurants and stricter rules on wearing face coverings among the big changes.

In a video diary, Lorraine told fans: "This week things are a bit different, we actually started off the week very excited that we were allowed guests in the studio.

“And we had gorgeous Felicity Kendall here, but everything has changed now so it’s going to be back to talking to people in their houses, in their kitchens, and we can have a wee look in their houses which is actually quite good.”

Turning the camera so Dr Hilary was in shot, Lorraine added: "But it just means that we’ve obviously always got Dr Hilary.

“But no more guests for now, but hopefully things will change.

“He’s great, he’s been reassuring us all, making sense of all this, which is absolutely invaluable.

“Doing it every single day, which is terrific.”
