Lorraine Kelly appeared to accidentally let-slip the gender of Love Island star Laura Whitmore's baby live on air during an interview.

The ITV host, 61, was speaking to the Irish TV star, 35, about her new book No One Can Change Your Life Except For You when she appeared to make the gaffe.

During the interview on Thursday's show, Lorraine explained that the mother-to-be will be looking forward to passing on the book's life advice to her "baby girl".

Laura looked shocked and replied: "Well, my baby."

The pregnant TV star and husband Iain Stirling, 33, who married in secret last year, have yet to announce the gender of their baby.

Viewers went into meltdown on social media as they were convinced Lorraine revealed the news live on air.

One said: "Did #lorraine just tell everyone what Laura Whitmore's baby is gonna be?"

Another commented: "I'll be thinking about Laura's face when Lorraine accidentally revealed her baby gender for the rest of the day now".

A third added: "Oppps!! Baby girl for Laura!"

Another typed: "Lorraine dropping an absolute clanger once again, announcing @thewhitmore is having a baby girl on national TV!"

Iain and Laura announced the news of the pregnancy in December, shocking their legion of fans and followers.

Laura has been documenting her pregnancy journey on social media and is expecting to give birth to her first child in early 2021.

The Love Island presenter and voiceover delighted fans with the revelation they had secretly tied the knot in Dublin City Hall last year.

Despite coronavirus restrictions, the Irish beauty revealed the couple had always planned to have a small wedding regardless of the pandemic.

She admitted the couple were lucky enough to be able to go ahead with "exactly" what they had wanted.

Laura and Iain had also planned on remaining tight-lipped on the ceremony by keeping the exciting news between loved ones and close friends.

However, happy news of their wedding got out so they decided to share news of their big day with the world.
