Lorraine Kelly addresses Esther McVey snub and reveals who she wants to run for Prime Minister

Lorraine Kelly has addressed her , responding to Esther's claims on the reason behind their feud.

After interviewing Esther on GMB, Susanna Reid asked Lorraine if she remembered her from their GMTV days, to which she pursed her lips and said “Yeah” before quickly changing the subject.

Piers Morgan later asked the Scottish telly host what she thought of her ex colleague and if they got on during their GMTV years.

She replied: “I don’t remember love. I don’t remember at all.”

Lorraine Kelly was left baffled over Esther McVey's claims about their 'feud' (ITV)

Piers went on to add: "Ooh if looks could kill, she’d be six feet under!”

Yesterday Esther claimed that the pair’s feud stemmed from her promotion on GMTV to host with Eamonn Holmes.

Asked about what went on between the pair, she said: “Well we used to share a dressing room, and she used to be on the programme afterwards, and obviously she used to be partnered with Eamonn Holmes, then I was promoted to be partnering with Eamonn Holmes.

"But, she's great and it was a great show, and I can't believe it, I think it was 20 years ago I did that show, but never mind, it was really good at the time, it was really good fun."

This morning, Piers asked Lorraine to confirm McVey’s claims and asked if there was a love rivalry between them over Eamonn.

Lorraine joked: “Well, who wouldn’t want to fight over Eamonn Holmes, frankly?”

When Piers demanded to know the truth about her “battle” with McVey, Lorraine insisted: “No, there is no battle.”

She went on to remind the GMB hosts and viewers: “I had my own show since 1992, I don’t actually think she joined until five years later.”

Things got a little more heated when Lorraine, who is known for her friendly, caring nature, revealed the real reason for her snub. She fumed: “I’m sick to the back teeth of the whole toxic political atmosphere.

Did Lorraine Kelly throw shade at Esther McVey?

“I strongly disagree with [McVey] on LGBT rights and I just thought to myself, ‘I’ve had enough of this.’

“We’ve had two and a half years of going round in circles and not sorting Brexit out and now we’ve got a state in Britain where people are at each other’s throats and it’s got to stop.”

Lorraine then revealed who she would personally like to see run in the Tory leadership race - someone a little closer to home.

She said: “I’m really disappointed actually that Ruth Davidson’s not standing because she’s one of the few human beings who’s actually in politics right now.”
