Lorraine Keane praises husband Peter Devlin for being her 'rock' during tough times

Lorraine Keane has praised her husband Peter Devlin for being her “rock” during tough times, supporting her as a parent and in her career.

The businesswoman and TV personality tied the knot with musician Peter back in 2003, and the couple share two teenage daughters - Emelia and Romy.

Lorraine said the couple would have liked to have had more kids but it wasn’t to be as she went into perimenopause in her late 30s - which was difficult for both of them as they struggled through failed IVF attempts.

However, now the mum-of-two says she feels “extremely happy” with her life.

Speaking to Dr Mary Ryan on RSVP’s podcast, Empowering Women, Lorraine said: “I feel absolutely blessed to be alive and healthy and to have gotten to this age and have two healthy babies and a husband who I only want to kill occasionally.

“He’s very gentle, very genuine. Not a bit jealous. And that’s probably because of his upbringing.”

Speaking about the division of labour in their home, she said: “I definitely do a little bit more than him when it comes to the house and the kids but that is my choice a lot as well.

“For example, when they were sick as babies during the night and I was going on telly the next day, the babies would wake up and they would have a high temperature and Peter would say to me ‘You stay in bed because you’re on the telly in the morning’. I’d stay in bed for about two minutes and then I would get up.

“As mothers, we’ve held our babies in our tummies and our hormones make us the nurturers. There’s a lot of stuff that we will want to do, but there’s also stuff that we can pass on to the fella.

“If I was willing to do it all for him, do you think he wouldn’t take it? Of course he would! It’s us as women, we’re the ones who have to say ‘No!’ and ask for help and not do it all.”
