Lorraine hit with thousands of Ofcom complaints after Covid comment

ITV daytime show Lorraine has been hit with a barrage of Ofcom complaints after host Lorraine Kelly made a controversial comment during a segment about Covid vaccines.

On December 6, Lorraine made comments about the number of unvaccinated people in hospital.

In total, Ofcom confirmed, it received 3,743 complaints about this.

The show received a further 254 complaints to the broadcasting watchdog for a segment which aired on December 7.

Appearing on the daytime show, GP Dr Hilary said: "Those people who haven't been vaccinated, we'd really love you to think again and be vaccinated."

Lorraine replied: "That's a figure that we have to really concentrate on, 90% of people in hospital have not been vaccinated."

Viewers of the show were left outraged - as the figures were incorrect.

According to Full Fact, the true figure is more like 36%.

The organisation added: "However there are signs that unvaccinated people are the majority in intensive care."

Figures which covered admissions in the four weeks up to 28 November 2021, show that about 36% were people who had not been vaccinated, and about 61% were fully vaccinated.
