Lorn turf farmers left 'heartbroken' after vandals destroy a large swathe of their spring crop

Low act: Vandals have destroyed a large swathe of new Sir Walter lawn on the property of Hunter turf farmers AgTurf.

AGTurf turf farm owners Judy Mead and her son, Adam, are facing having to grate back a paddock of their prized Sir Walter lawn they had only just finished irrigating, and start the growing process over again after vandals destroyed a considerable patch of their farm this week.

"It's very disappointing," Ms Mead said, when she discovered the muddy tracks running across her son's property at Lorn. "We have lost a lot of ground."

The Mead family had just come out of a good winter and were looking toward strong spring growth to rejuvenate their supplies of Sir Walter turf, but now Ms Mead says she is unsure what they will do.

The family have spoken with police, but without security footage or any witnesses coming forward, they say they don't have high hopes of finding the culprits.

"I just hope whoever it was has a think about what they have done," Ms Mead said.

On a Facebook post that has since been shared more than 500 times, the Meads said they were " heart broken that someone could deliberately destroy what we work so hard for".
