Loris Karius tipped for Liverpool exit as manager makes 'very good' claim

Loris Karius could be moving even closer to his time at Liverpool coming to an end.

The German goalkeeper hasn’t made a competitive appearance for the Reds since the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev, where he made two high-profile errors against Real Madrid.

Karius has since had loan stints with Besiktas and Union Berlin, but neither led to a permanent move for the 28-year-old.

Liverpool are prepared to allow Karius to resurrect his career by letting him leave Anfield in January.

His contract is due to run until the end of the season, but the club are willing to let him leave six months early to find a new permanent home.

Now, according to a report from German news outlet Kicker, Bundesliga club Greuther Furth could make a move for Karius in the New Year.

They claim that Furth, who are rock bottom of the Bundesliga, are plotting a move for a new goalkeeper and are considering making a move for Karius.

In the same report, Furth sporting director Rachid Azzouzi admitted that the club could look to sign a new goalkeeper, following a serious injury to regular stopper Marius Funk.

"We have to think about it," said Azzouzi.

The report went on to provide quotes from Furth manager Stefan Leitl, who was asked directly about the prospect of the German club signing Karius.

"He's undoubtedly a very, very good goalkeeper, but I'm not involved in names or speculations," said Leitl.
