Loris Karius sends message to Liverpool after Barcelona win in Champions League

On loan Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has taken to Twitter to congratulate the Reds on reaching the final of the Champions League.

Karius, who is spending the season on loan at Turkish side Besiktas, endured a night to forget in his side's final against Real Madrid last season - making two high-profile errors in the game which all but handed the trophy to the Spanish giants in Kyiv.

The stopper's poor run of form then continued during pre-season, and he was eventually moved out on loan before the start of the Premier League season.

But despite being away from the club, the German international was quick turn to the social media site after the game to applaud the Reds on reaching their second successive Champions League final.

Karius tweeted: "This is Anfield! So happy for club & fans!"

The Reds booked their place in the final with a 4-3 aggregate win over Barcelona in the last four.

Jurgen Klopp has just given Liverpool their greatest ever Anfield night with win against Barcelona

Despite coming into the second-leg trailing 3-0, Jurgen Klopp's side produced another one of their famous European comebacks at Anfield .

A first-half goal from Divock Origi set the Reds on their way, before a quirk-fire second-half double from substitute Georginio Wijnaldum levelled the scores on aggregate.

Origi then collected his second of the night when he turned home Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner to complete the most unlikeliest of turnarounds.

The Reds will face either Ajax or Spurs in the final in Spain on June 1 - with the game taking place at Atletico Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano.
