Loris Karius posts heartfelt Liverpool message after Champions League win over Spurs

Loris Karius has posted a heartfelt Liverpool message on social media after the Reds' win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp's men were not at their best in Madrid but prevailed thanks to Mohamed Salah's penalty goal inside two minutes, before the game fell flat.

Despite an indifferent performance from the penalty onwards, Divock Origi stole the show in the final minutes by lashing home a left-footed strike which left fans of the Reds feeling delirious.

That's quite a contrast to the feeling of twelve months ago when Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the final, with Karius at fault during the contest.

Karius made mistakes for two of the goals, one of which saw him mishandle Gareth Bale's long-range shot.

The 25-year-old faced intense criticism and has since joined Besiktas on loan, but one year on he offered a classy verdict on the Reds' triumph.

"Congrats, Liverpool Football Club. Really happy for everyone at the club and fans. You deserved this," Karius tweeted.

A year on and Liverpool were much safer at the back as they kept a clean sheet against Spurs.

Whilst Liverpool were not great in Madrid, it doesn't matter one bit as manager Jurgen Klopp and his players became heroes on Merseyside.
