Loris Karius furiously hits out at still being asked about his Liverpool clangers

Loris Karius has furiously hit out at still being asked about his blunders, which cost Liverpool the Champions League in 2018.

Karius kept goal for Liverpool in the European final against Real Madrid two years ago.

But the German had a game to forget as he rolled the ball into the path of Karim Benzema to open the scoring for Los Blancos, before later pawing a speculative long-range effort from Gareth Bale into his own net.

Karius was inconsolable after the match, and broke down in tears as he apologised to the Liverpool fans who travelled to Kiev.

The German was subsequently replaced by Alisson at Liverpool, who helped the Reds win the Champions League a year later and Premier League last season.

Karius, meanwhile, enjoyed two seasons on loan at Besiktas before this summer joining Union Berlin for the campaign.

He's put his errors behind him now, and admits it is frustrating to still be talking about them two years on from that fateful match.

"That was two years ago. I've played over 60 matches since," Karius told the Bundesliga.

"I'm here to play well. That doesn't play a role anymore – I long put it behind me. The only people who want to talk about it are the journalists. It's boring for me now.

"I've gained the sort of experience few have at my age, taken it all on board, positive and negative, and have come out stronger. I think some things, particularly here in Germany, were and are still taken too negatively."
