Lori Loughlin 'not ready to make a plea' in college admissions scandal

Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are "not ready" to follow Felicity Huffman and enter a plea in the college admissions scandal.

While Desperate Housewives star Huffman has said she will enter a guilty plea, a source close to Fuller House actress Loughlin, has said she is 'not ready' as a potential 40-year jail term hangs over her head.

Speaking to CNN, the source said that Loughlin and her fashion designer husband feel they are "innocent until proven guilty," and are "hoping to just let this play out in the judicial system."

There was also a message to the media, as Loughlin believes the situation is being blown out of proportion.

The source continued: "They wish the media would just leave them alone. They feel like there is no story and don't understand why the press keep hounding them."

Loughlin has been charged alongside her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, for allegedly paying $500,000 to a fake charity to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California as crew recruits, even though they do not play sport.

On Tuesday, Loughlin and Giannulli were also hit with an additional charge of fraud and money laundering.

The Department of Justice statement read: "The second superseding indictment also charges the defendants with conspiring to launder the bribes and other payments in furtherance of the fraud by funneling them through Singer’s purported charity and his for-profit corporation, as well as by transferring money into the United States, from outside the United States, for the purpose of promoting the fraud scheme."

Loughlin has kept quiet about her predicament, citing her 'legal issues' as to why she cannot comment.

The alleged 'mastermind' behind the college admissions scam is 58-year-old William 'Rick' Singer.

He allegedly coordinated payments to coaches and admissions officials, as well as allegedly bribing SAT and ACT administrators, to ensure the students passed the tests.

This was through either others sitting the exams or having the answers amended after the tests were done, it is claimed.
