Country music legend Loretta Lynn and rock musician Jack White are no strangers to collaboration. The duo have performed together in the past, and in June are set to share the stage again – this time, as part of their induction ceremony into Nashville’s Walk of Fame, in the renovated and newly reopened Walk of Fame park.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the reopening of Walk of Fame Park than with the induction of Loretta Lynn and Jack White – two very diverse artists,” Nashville mayor Karl Dean said in a statement. “They represent what is best about Nashville, with music that spans multiple genres and generations. They are great ambassadors for the creative community in our city, and I congratulate them on this wonderful honour.”
Lynn and White will be the 63rd recipients of the star-and-guitar-shaped granite tributes, erected along Music Mile in downtown Nashville. They have been chosen for their contributions to music and to the industry and for helping to preserve Nashville’s musical legacy.
“Collectively, the impact of their collaborations has been felt exponentially and worldwide,” said Ken Levitan, NCVC board chairman and president of Vector Management. “The Walk of Fame showcases our diverse history and illustrates to fans from all over the world why we are Music City.”
The Walk of Fame park closed in 2014 for renovations, and Lynn and White’s performance will act as the ribbon-cutting celebration when it reopens on 4 June 2015.
