Lorenzo Insigne snubbed Chelsea as Saul Niguez deal is off

Welcome to our football.london Chelsea media watch piece. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Kounde ‘flies out of Spain’

Diario de Sevilla have reported that the deal for Sevilla defender, Jules Kounde will be finalised in only a ‘matter of time’ - with a fee rumoured to be around £42million.

Outgoing Kurt Zouma to West Ham United leaves a gap in the Chelsea squad for another defender to fill in. The French international per the report has said to have traveled to Paris early for any news on his transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Both clubs are allegedly yet to agree on a fee for the player. Sky Sports have reported that the move is ‘hanging in the balance’ with Sevilla hoping to capitalise with more money for the sale of Kounde.

Insigne said no to Chelsea move

According to Journalist Francesco Modugno Chelsea were interested in signing Italian international - Lorenzo Insigne.

The player who won the European Championship with Italy this year was on the radar of the Blues, who were willing to negotiate a deal to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.

In return for the forward, Chelsea were also willing to offer fringe players Emerson Palmieri and Tiemoue Bakayoko. But, the player ultimately wasn’t interested in a move to the Blues.

Area Napoli reported Modungo as saying: “Zenit were ready to pay 30 million for Insigne and double his salary, but they were not interested in the prospect.”

“I’m also aware of discussions with Chelsea to include Bakayolo and Emerson Palmieri in the deal, with financial compensation, but the accounts and the will didn’t fit.

“Then, of course, there is Inter: there too, perhaps a financial compensation with the possibility of inserting a player. At the moment, Napoli can’t reach those figures. Who knows if the chat with De Laurentiis will ever take place, probably Insigne would hope.”

Saul Niguez to stay in Spain

Mundo Deportivo have reported that the last option for the player to leave Atletico Madrid has ‘vanished’. Links with the player have detailed a season-long loan move with a clause for an option to buy.

But, it’s looking more likely that the player will stay with Atletico and Diego Simeone’s squad. The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour, with dwindling minutes under Simeone.

A move away for the Spaniard was looking wise for the player as Atletico signed Rodrigo De Paul, seeing Saul move further down the list of a starting-eleven place in the team. Now a last-minute offer from Chelsea is looking unlikely, with the transfer window closing on Tuesday at 11 pm BST.
