Lorenzo becomes fifth Atlantic hurricane: U.S. NHC

(Reuters) - Lorenzo has strengthened into the fifth hurricane of the 2019 Atlantic season and could strengthen further into a major hurricane by Thursday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Wednesday.

The hurricane was located about 640 miles (1,030 km) west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 80 miles per hour, the NHC said.
