Lord Sugar jets to Australia to film Celebrity Apprentice as he confirms UK 2022 air date

Lord Alan Sugar is jetting to Australia to film Celebrity Apprentice and teased that the Oz series will be airing for the first time on the BBC "soon".

But for those waiting for the UK series will have to wait a little longer as Lord Sugar confirmed the air date.

Taking to Twitter, the 74-year-old wrote: "I am leaving today to Australia to record another series of Celebrity Apprentice. The first Oz series will be coming soon on BBC no exact time yet."

However, he was inundated by fans quizzing him on when the British one would be returning to telly.

A fan tweeted: "I miss the Uk one, only decent programme on bbc1."

Responding to the viewer, Lord Sugar wrote: "The UK BBC version will be on BBC 1 early next year in the can."

He also revealed that the second series of the Australian Apprentice will be airing in May and June 2022.

It comes after it was revealed that Claude Littner has been replaced on BBC show following his horror accident.

The British business executive - who usually works alongside Baroness Karen Brady to keep an eye on the contestants as they try to impress with their business acumen - is recovering from a serious accident that took place about a mile away from his Mill Hill home in the capital in April.

The 72-year-old is having to learn to walk again after injuring his right leg so badly during the accident while riding an electric bike.

After falling off the bike he was rushed to a trauma unit at St Mary’s Hospital in an ambulance.

The CEO has undergone nine surgeries to date and doctors initially thought they may have to amputate.

The wealthy star told PA news agency: “I was just pottering along, I must have been doing no more than 10 kilometres an hour on this sort of two-track road. The next thing I knew, I was on the left-hand side of the street, my bike was in the middle of the road and I didn’t know what happened.

“I suspect I hit a pothole or something like that, but I must have blanked out at the moment of impact, because the next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground.”

Claude recalled: “My wife and my sons were there as well and they (the doctors) decided they were going to amputate my leg. And then they had another chat about it and they said, ‘Look, let’s get him into theatre right away tonight and let’s see if we can save his leg’. And I went into theatre and it was a very long operation and they didn’t take my leg off.”

Due to Claude's recovery timeline, he will not be filming the BBC series that is set to air in early 2022.

Former Apprentice winner and entrepreneur Tim Campbell will stand in for the former chief executive of Tottenham Hotspur and it is hoped that Claude will return the following series when he has fully recovered.
