Lord Sugar fires The Apprentice hopeful Denisha after bonkers day out in Brighton

Lord Alan Sugar has fired another of his The Apprentice hopefuls this evening, as Denisha Kaur Bharj became the latest to get the chop from the 2023 cast.

The 17th series of the BBC reality show returned to TV screens this month with 18 new candidates competing to win a life-changing investment of £250,000 from Lord Sugar.

The candidates were thrown in at the deep end when the series kicked off with a trip to the Caribbean, but this week saw the hopefuls head out to buzzing Brighton and Hove.

As the BBC One production descended on one of the fastest growing cities in the UK for a classic instalment of the show’s nearly two-decade run.

The candidates were tasked with a game of find and seek as each team was given a laminated list of nine weird and wonderful items they were tasked with locating.

Yet it proved a harder-than-anticipated job just to figure out what each of the things, which were synonymous to the area, actually was, let alone then having to negotiate the nine items to their lowest price.

The team that secured the most items at the lowest prices won and the day ended with a race back to the iconic Brighton Palace Pier – because how else is Lord Sugar going to pick the most suitable candidate?

Yet once the fun of the running race had worn off, it was time for Lord Sugar’s boardroom barking as he whittled down the suited up candidates to decide who would be fired tonight.

Turning to unlucky Denisha, he said: “You had your chance to show me whether you were any good at logistics and dealing with people.

“I’m very sorry to say that you have not impressed me. So it is with regret, Denisha, that you’re fired.”

Denisha and her teammates had searched the Brighton florists for a Sahara Desert Rose, but they were barking up the wrong tree as it is in fact an intricate rose-like formation of crystals.

Following her firing Denisha said she was ‘gutted’ she would not be able to progress to the next week of the process, adding: “It’s been an amazing opportunity and an amazing experience.

“I’ve watched the show for years and been a fan of the show for years. To get to the point where I’ve met Lord Sugar has been incredible.

“I applied for it because I really wanted to win the investment, but you know, everything happens for a reason.”
