A refuse worker has been dubbed ‘Lord of the Rings’ after finding a lost wedding band at a Scots recycling centre.
Stuart Urquhart, from Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, had been dropping off rubbish at Stobhill Recycling Centre in Gorebridge on June 5 when the gold loop slipped off his finger.
Despite scouring the area with the help of site workers George Kenderdine and Ryan Law, it could not be found and was feared lost forever.
But just hours later, eagle-eyed Ryan spotted the shiny ring lying next to a skip as it was being moved.
Stuart had not left any contact details with staff at the site prompting a social media appeal to be launched by Midlothian Council.
They said: “We are trying to track down a man who visited the centre late morning on Friday 5 June and lost his wedding ring as he was putting items into a general waste skip.
“At the time two members of centre staff, George Kenderdine and Ryan Law, helped him search for the ring but unfortunately they could not find it - even though Ryan searched through the skip to look for it.
“Fortunately the ring was later found outside the skip by Ryan when the skip was being moved.
“Pictured is Ryan Law who has now been nicknamed ‘Lord of the Rings’ holding the ring at the depot.”
Thankfully, the rightful owner was soon traced and was reunited with precious on Sunday.
Stuart issued his heartfelt thanks to Ryan on behalf of himself and his wife while the worker enjoys his new ‘Lord of the Rings’ title.
