Lord of the Rings are looking for 'extremely hairy' and 'unusual' people to play orcs in new TV series

In what could potentially be the weirdest job advert ever, a production company for the new Lord of the Rings TV Series have put out a casting call for 'very hairy' people with 'character faces' to play orcs.

The series based on JRR Tolkein’s fantasy novels begins production next year and will be coming to Amazon Prime Video .

BGT Actors Models and Talent took to Facebook to recruit people for the enormous fantasy programme and according to the call-out are looking for:

  • Short people under 5ft and tall people over 6ft 5
  • Character faces with lots of wrinkles
  • Androgynous men and women
  • 'Hairy, hairy' people of all ages and ethnicities
  • Tall, long and lithe dancers
  • Circus performers who can juggle and stilt walk
  • Stocky mean-looking bikers
  • Eurasian people of all ages
  • Red heads of all ages, shapes and sizes

The filming for the TV series is taking place in New Zealand but apparently their need for extras is currently 'urgent' so it's worth chancing your luck.
