A London-based peer has been robbed of his £175,000 watch by thieves while he was on holiday on the Italian island of Capri.
Renowned surgeon Lord Ara Darzi, an ex-health minister, had been relaxing with friends and strolling through a narrow piazza at around 10.30pm on Sunday.
According to local authorities, two robbers stalked the 65-year-old before quickly snatching the luxury Richard Mille timepiece from his wrist.
He was targeted on Via Vittorio Emanuele as he walked back towards his yacht.
Video footage shared in local media shows the House of Lords member walking among a group of people.
A man in a white T-shirt can be seen lingering nearby before positioning himself behind Lord Darzi. The man then makes a grabbing motion before sprinting off.
Another man standing nearby in a red top runs in the same direction before a person who appears to be Lord Darzi is seen in pursuit.
Witnesses said the criminals fled on foot, taking the famous Via Krupp to board a speedboat they left in the Marina Piccola bay. The peer is not thought to have been hurt in the robbery.
Capri is a magnet for the super-rich and famous and was recently visited by Jeff Bezos and new wife Lauren Sanchez.
As well as being a peer, Lord Darzi is a professor at Imperial College London and co-director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation.
His Richard Mille watch, worth about £175,000, is incredibly rare with only a select few individuals able to purchase one.
The brand produces around 5,000 watches a year and they only sell to those with elite connections and influence, such as Elon Musk and the rapper Jay-Z.
