Loose Women stunned as Denise Welch reveals shock link between Geordies and Norwegians

Denise Welch's Loose Women colleagues were left in a state of shock as she revealed a surprising link between Geordies and Norwegians.

Geordie actress Denise was on the panel as the ITV talk show returned on Monday and the star guests, appearing via video call, were former EastEnders star and Strictly champion Kara Tointon and her Norwegian fiance Marius Jensen.

The couple, who have son Frey together, were on Loose Women to talk about their successful storytelling app and spoke about the differences in languages between their respective countries.

And it was then that Denise stunned her fellow panellists Andrea McLean, Coleen Nolan and Kellie Bryan by claiming that the Geordie accent came from Norway.

She then put it to Marius: "Do you say gannin' yem for going home? Gannin' yem?"

Nodding his head, Marius replied: "Going yem, yep!"

Denise replied "YES! You see!" while the other Loose Women sat in the studio open mouthed, with Andrea exclaiming "Who knew?!"

Yem or 'yhem' isn't the only word shared between the two countries. Norwegians and Danes both say 'oot' for out while Danes, Swedes and Norwegians say 'barn' for child, which is of course almost exactly the same as Geordie word 'bairn.'
