Loose Women stars in furious bust-up over 'vilification' of 'privileged' Meghan Markle

Things got very heated on Loose Women today as the panelists discussed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the show today.

Yesterday, the Duke of Sussex issued a statement announcing that they would be suing the Mail on Sunday and compared his wife's treatment from the media to Diana's.

In the blunt statement, he accused parts of the media of "waging campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences”.

Discussing whether Meghan and Harry were right to take a stand, Saira Khan said that she was firmly in Meghan's corner and described her as a "woman of change".

Meanwhile Janet Street Porter suggested that Meghan and Harry were trying to get the best of both worlds and should be open to criticism.

Janet said: "We can't say that she's speaking for the modern woman. Meghan is in a very privileged position, she had a successful career before she married into the royal family. There are all sorts of modern woman."

"There are," Saira conceded. "But we shouldn't vilify one because she's showing who she is!"

Janet insisted: "She's not being vilified by the vast majority of the press and the British public..."

Saira retorted: "But if she feels it, those feelings are adequate"

"How do we know she feels it? Because she had Prince Harry put out the statement for her!" Janet snarked.

"Because he's her husband, I'm sure he knows how she feels! " Saira replied.

However Janet began laughing, breaking the awkward tension. She joked: "Saira and I will have a fight in the break! "
