Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha reveals backlash for ‘sausage teasing’ her dog amid Paul Hollywood diabetes drama

Nadia Sawalha has opened up about the shocking backlash she received on her YouTube channel for the way she played with her dogs.

The Loose Women panellist opened up today about the abuse she received for one of her videos after ‘teasing’ her pooches with a sausage.

Nadia - who has two dogs, Chi Chi and Toffee - said she had come home after several hours and wanted to entertain her pets, who had likely been bored in the house alone.

She said: “Recently I came home, my dogs had been on their own for a few hours and I was filming for my youtube channel. I had these sausages and I was saying, ‘sit for the sausages’.

“She’d been on her own and she was bored, I’d been out for three hours and so I was playing with her.

“I put this on my vlog on YouTube and oh my goodness, the amount of comments I got - ‘well I hope when you die you come back as a dog so you can be tortured and see what it’s like.’

“I wasn’t torturing my dogs. I apologised that I’d offended people and Mark said don’t because your intention was to play with your dog. If some people have taken it and chosen to virtue signal to you, then that’s about them.”

The presenter spoke about her ordeal amid the diabetes drama surrounding Paul Hollywood.

The Great British Bake Off host came under fire after comparing a contestant’s Chelsea buns to the condition - so much so he was forced to apologise on Instagram.

On the episode, while inspecting the bun, Paul, 53, said it was "diabetes on a plate".

But following a backlash, Paul today found an ally in Nadia Sawalha, who threw her support behind the baker during a debate on Loose Women.

Nadia said: “I feel sorry for Paul Hollywood.

“The thing is, I make mistakes, a lot, but I know that my heart is good and my intentions are always right.”

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
