Loose Women's Kaye Adams backs Shamima Begum being allowed to return to UK

The Loose Women got into a heated debate on Friday's episode as they discussed ISIS bride Shamima Begum.

Shamima, now 20, travelled to Syria in February 2015 and lived under ISIS rule for more than three years before she was found, nine months pregnant, in a Syrian refugee camp.

On Thursday senior judges ruled that the young woman should be allowed to return to the UK to challenge the deprivation of her British citizenship - which was stripped from her.

Kaye Adams voiced her opinion on why she believes it is the right decision to let Shamima Begum to return to the UK on Friday's Loose Women (ITV)

And Kaye Adams voiced her opinion on why she believes it is the right decision to let Shamima return to the UK on the latest episode of the panel show.

The 57-year-old said that she thinks that it is the correct thing to do so that justice can be served.

On-air things started to turn fiery between her and Kelly Bryan who told that she does not agree.

Kaye explained: "Lets hear the facts, hear the evidence in a court and make a valid decision on the facts rather than cherry pick the stuff we have been told."

The journalist made it clear that she does not "condone terrorist activity" but shared that "it hould be dealt with in a court of law."

Kelly went on to compare Begum's case to the 2019 terrorist attack on London Bridge, that saw Usman Khan five people, two of which died.

Kaye hit back: "Whats the benefit of taking other case and trying to make some moral judgement?"

She then added: "Some murderers go to prison and reform others come out and kill again - we have to deal with these case by case."

Kaye stood firm by her view and asked viewers and the panel to think about the governments role in the case and to why they are trying to distract the public from the mistakes made.

Stacey Solomon appeared to agree with this, as she added: "This whole situation is to deflect on how things have been handled in the past."

Ms Begum was one of three east London schoolgirls who left Britain and travelled to Syria via Turkey to join the terror group in February 2015.

She lived under Islamic State rule for more than three years before she was found, nine months pregnant, at the al-Hol refugee camp in Syria in February last year. She told reporters she didn't regret joining ISIS, but begged to be rescued and brought back to the UK.

Then home secretary Sajid Javid revoked her British citizenship on national security grounds later that month.

Ms Begum, whose three children were fathered by her since-captured ISIS fighter husband and all died, is now living at the al-Roj refugee camp in Syria.

She took legal action against the Home Office, claiming the decision was unlawful because it rendered her stateless and exposed her to a real risk of death or inhuman and degrading treatment.

There were fears Thursday's ruling could open the door for other ISIS brides and fighters to make similar attempts to return to Britain.

It means the Government must find a way to allow Ms Begum to travel to the UK to appear in court in London despite insisting it would offer no assistance to rescue her from Syria.
