Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter says she would have 'physically assaulted' Matt Hancock on I'm A Celeb

Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter has claimed she would have "physically assaulted" Matt Hancock MP if she had appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! with him. While Hancock is currently in the jungle Janet participated in the fourth series in 2004.

Speaking to her Loose Women co-stars Ruth Langsford, Kéllé Bryan, and Katie Piper on Monday, November 14, Janet said of the MP: "I'm just increasingly angry with him. Not less because he's getting them food and it's a good job I wasn't in the jungle this time because if I had been round that campfire and he'd walked in, I would have either physically assaulted him or I would have to leave."

After it emerged that Hancock would feature in the 2022 series there has been widespread criticism from both viewers and campmates. You can read more about what the latter had to say here.

After Janet shared her opinion on Hancock in the jungle Ruth quickly stepped and added: "I think it's best you'd leave," which prompted Janet to hastily agree: "It's best I would have left!" She proceeded to suggest that the camp are only being nice to the former English health secretary as he is providing food and that they don't really have a choice as they are in a "hostage situation".

"But it's important to understand the mentality in camp because when you're watching it at home you are going ma, aren't you? You're thinking: 'Why are they being so nice to him?' He is providing food and you are hostages. You are in a hostage situation. Okay, you're being paid a lot of money to be in a hostage situation, but it's a hostage situation nonetheless," she explained.

Speaking of her own time in the jungle Janet added: "When I was in there it drove me nuts. I tried to walk even 50 yards, 100 yards out of the camp to get away from some of the people and you're turned back. You're forced to sit round that fire and bond."

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Monday, November 14, at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub
