Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter fumes as she is branded 'rude' by Coleen Nolan

Janet Street-Porter was left unimpressed after co-star Coleen Nolan described her as “rude”.

The Loose Women panel were discussing whether individuals get ruder with age on Tuesday's show of the ITV series.

During the talk, Coleen noted whilst gesturing to panellists Janet and Brenda Edwards: “If we’re going to talk 'rude' we should move over this side.”

Janet quickly responded: “Never, ever, ever say anything like that because I grew up with a mother who would just offer advice that I didn’t want.”

She described an occasion when her mother told her to “put some slippers on” when Janet visited her mother’s house for a cup of tea prior to a glamorous social event for which she had dressed up before.

Coleen agreed that it was rude and then said: “But you can be rude.”

Janet then said: “What do you mean I’m rude?”

“But you are rude,” said Coleen, “you can be rude.”

When Kaye Adams questioned the difference between directness and rudeness, Coleen said they can be separate things.

Coleen then said that Brenda “is very direct but it can come across as rude”.

Brenda was described by Coleen as “the nicest woman I know” and she did not want people to think Brenda was rude.

Brenda believed it was due to her “volume”, but Coleen said it was also Brenda’s “face”.

Addressing a grumpy-looking Janet, Coleen said she didn’t think Janet always meant to be rude.

Janet responded to Coleen: “Do you know what, I don’t care what you think.”

Brenda then said of Janet’s comment: “That’s rude, I wouldn’t say that.”

“She told me I’m rude, I’m not rude,” said Janet.

Meanwhile, Brenda said it “upsets” her if people think she’s rude but is keen to be “enthusiastic” and “passionate”.

Janet joked that she was keen to move on to something she can “be rude about”.

Later in the show, Janet joked that Coleen had shared a lot of her views today.

“I’ve got a very thin skin,” noted Janet, suggesting she was only responding to have been dealt a “load of do-do”.

Diplomatic Kaye noted: “Let’s not get upset.”

The ladies seemed to be all good to discuss issues of household chores as the episode went on, so all seems to be well with the Loose ladies.

*Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub with previous episodes available on ITV Hub.
