Loose Women's Denise Welch 'pulls car over and sobs' due to grief

Denise Welch has shared that she experiences 'waves of grief' about the loss her dad. Vin Welch died aged 84 in September 2021 and the Loose Women panellist said there are days when she gets overwhelmed with emotion.

Her comments came as the Loose Women panel on Monday (April 17) discussed whether or not they were a 'comfortable crier'. Denise admitted she was "a terrible crier" who wells up often.

She added: "To the point that it's irritating, certainly to the kids when they go, 'oh my god, you're not crying are you?'" On the subject of losing her dad, the 64-year-old continued: "There are times when I can talk, like now, quite fine about him.

"And there's other times I've had to pull the car into a lay-by and just absolutely lose it and be in racking sobs. Because I think grief just comes and blind-sides you, doesn't it? When you're not expecting it."

When her father died two years ago, Denise shared a photo on Instagram of her hand on top of his, reported the Express. Alongside it she wrote: "The words I’ve dreaded saying all of my life.

"Last night at 11pm, we lost our dad, the life force that was Vin Welch. After making a miraculous recovery recently from major surgeries, pneumonia plus his existing pulmonary fibrosis was more than even he could take.

"He left us surrounded by his family who could not have loved anyone more. I can’t quite function as I’m so grief-stricken, but I know he meant so much to so many people, even those who’d never met him.

"I’ve never seen anyone fight to stay longer at a party than dad and last night was no different. He loved life and lived it to the full like no other."
