Loose Women's Coleen Nolan says she would kill to be on Strictly Come Dancing

Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, 55, revealed she would love a chance to appear on Strictly Come Dancing as she threw her hat in the ring for the show.

But her co-panelist Nadia Sawalha said she would only take part if she was matched with an age-appropriate partner, otherwise she would feel too awkward.

The show was debating older women on dance shows and discussing whether they are always "the joke" like Anne Widdicombe was when she starred on Strictly in 2010.

Nadia, 55, said: "I wouldn't do Strictly, if I am being really honest.

"Because I wouldn't want to be put with a young, super fit muscly dancer.

"I am going to be really honest here, I think it would look a bit sad."

She explained: "If you put me with somebody like Anton, I'd like to be with Anton, but I would feel really intimidated being with a really young dancer.

"And maybe that's because I have been dictated to, ageism, but I would feel really awkward."

Coleen disagreed, saying: "I wouldn't, I would absolutely kill to be on Strictly, I love it and I love the fact it's every age across the board, male or female.

"It's every size, I think we should celebrate it.

"And yes, with some of the oldest women doing it, Anne ended up being the funny one because she couldn't dance, and she admitted she didn't rehearse because she couldn't be bothered.

"But you have older women who have gone really far in the competition, and been brilliant.

"Lisa Riley was the big girl, she did it when she was big, and what a fantastic dancer, I can't think of another show that would have given her the opportunity to show that, except for maybe a West End show.

"I think it's brilliant, and the same for Dancing On Ice."

Nadia replied: "I agree it's brilliant, but I think personally there is ageism in own head, where I would feel awkward about dancing with a really young dancer."

"I wouldn't do it because I would just be too scared... I think I would just faint," said Jane Moore.
