Coleen Nolan jokingly accuses Ruth Langsford of picking on her over single life

Loose Women star Coleen Nolan laughingly accused her co-host Ruth Langsford of picking on her during Tuesday's show.

Ruth and Coleen, along with fellow panelists Janet Street-Porter and Gloria Hunniford, were discussing the recent break-up of Liam Payne and his fiancée Maya Henry, when the conversation turned to singledom.

Ruth, 61, told viewers watching at home, "It got us thinking, are there people who are just destined for single life?" and looked towards Coleen.

Gigging, Ruth then said: "I’m only looking at you Coleen..." but the mum-of-three was having none of it.

"I know you’re looking at me! I’m not even making eye contact with you, I felt you burning into me," Coleen shouted.

"We’ve had all these serious, intelligent topics and what do you pick on me? Men!"

As Ruth continued giggling, Coleen added: "Don’t you laugh at me!" before pretending to get upset.

Ruth claimed that she only asked Coleen because she is also an agony aunt and "must get a lot of letters".

Coleen then gave her opinion and said: "I think you need to learn how to be happy alone and be comfortable in your own skin and with your own company, really.

"Because then you are meeting people because you want to, and not because you feel you need to because you’re scared of being alone and I think that’s where the danger is."

She added: "I actually quite like what Liam’s saying, he’s going to think about himself and how he should change. He’s looking at himself rather than blaming the other person. I think that’s a very healthy thing to do."

Ruth then asked her if there is a danger if people spend too much time on their own.

Coleen admitted that she is 'quite happy' on her own and isn't willing to compromise her happiness for someone else (ITV)

"You can get too comfortable and you can get too choosy of who you’re going to let into your life," Coleen replied.

"However, I am quite capable on my own and quite happy, I would like to share my life with someone but I’m not willing, now, to compromise my happiness for someone else.

"I’ve met some lovely men but they just weren’t right. I weren’t right for them and they weren’t right for me."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
