Loose Women's Chizzy Akudolu details terrifying encounter with gunman

Chizzy Akudolu shared a horrifying tale of how she once managed to escape a gunman.

The former Holby City star described the frightening incident on the Loose Woman panel on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old told her shocked colleagues how she dealt with the emergency.

She told the ITV show: “I was in a department store in America and all of a sudden people were running.

“And so I was asking ‘What’s going on?’ and then someone turned around and said, ‘Someone has got a gun’.

“So I just ran with them, I think I was running away from the gunman or gun-person but I just thought, ‘Well they’re running and exiting so I am going to exit too.'

“But for all I know I could have been exiting to more trouble.”

The actress, who has played surgeon Mo Effanga in Holby City since 2012, joined the Loose Women panel as a series regular in 2018 after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.

Elsewhere in the episode, Coleen Nolan shared how was once caught up in an earthquake.

“Years ago I was in an earthquake in Egypt, it was six o’clock in the morning so everyone was in bed and we were 11 floors up and then the whole room started to shake,” she commented.

“If the boys [sons] were with us, they would have been hurt as so much rubble fell on to their bed.

“I initially got up and thought, 'Oh we need to get out' and we put robes on and when we opened the door, the thing that got me was the silence, there was no screaming everyone was just heading towards the fire exit.

“And I thought, ‘Where are we running to?’”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
