Loose Women's Carol McGiffin left red-faced as her phone goes off live on air

Carol McGiffin was left red-faced during Thursday's Loose Women when her phone went off live on air.

The panelist, 59, was debating the news that Greta Thunberg being named Time Person of the Year for 2019 when her mobile buzzed.

She said: "Nobody is disputing or arguing the fact that we have climate change, the climate changes it always has."

The iPhone text sound suddenly played and Carol jumped, saying: "Oh me phone's on! Sorry."

She then put it under her seat and apologised again before trying to carry on with the show, while Nadia Sawalha said: "Sitting on it won't stop it!"

She then tried to carry on, saying: "I do find the influence that she has now is quite scary.

"I'm quite frightened by the fact that everybody seems to think that she's got the answer or she is the answer, because I don't think she's got the answer.

"Personally, and this is my view, I don't think there is an answer.

She was forced to apologise (ITV)

"It doesn't matter what we have to do or what they say we have to do, I don't think it's going to make that much difference unless the whole world does it and they're not going to.

"Also I think she's being used because she's a child and I think there are probably sinister organisations behind her, pushing her making her bring this message."

Carol returned to Loose Women last year after leaving five years before.
