Loose Women's Brenda Edwards smashes up Celebrity Catchphrase set in mortifying blunder

Loose Women star Brenda Edwards makes an embarrassing blunder on this Saturday’s edition of hit ITV/STV game show Celebrity Catchphrase.

The music star, 52, accidentally bashes up her buzzer during an enthusiastic attempt to guess an answer at rapid speed.

Playing alongside former EastEnders star Martin Kemp and Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack, Brenda’s enthusiasm results in her breaking the studio set – much to the horror of the show’s host Stephen Mulhern.

The musical theatre star, who rose to fame on The X Factor in 2005, becomes so eager to beat her components that she presses too firmly on the buzzer and smashes it to pieces.

“Oh no! I think I’ve broken it,” she then squeals.

Host Stephen is stunned by the blunder and hilariously crosses the studio to assess the damage.

Gobsmacked, he faces the camera and yells: “She’s actually not just bust it; she’s actually broken the Perspex!

“In all the years, I’ll tell you what, not even [former host] Roy Walker had to deal with that.”

Despite her embarrassing mishap, Brenda remains in high spirits.

Meanwhile, fellow contestants Martin and Emily struggle to contain their laughter.

Stephen then attempts to continue the show, apprehensive that Brenda may have “properly broken the actual buzzer system”.

The buzzer blunder comes after last week’s epic edition of Celebrity Catchphrase which was the highest-rated episode of the programme since its launch in 2013.

The episode entertained an average audience of 5.1 million viewers.

Other stars set to appear throughout the current series include Ranvir Singh, Vick Hope, Iain Stirling, and Fleur East.

Celebrity Catchphrase airs on Saturday 16 January at 6pm on ITV and STV.
