Loose Women's Brenda Edwards set to return to ITV show for first time since son Jamal’s death

Loose Women star Brenda Edwards has announced that she is set to return to the show on Tuesday, in her first TV interview since the tragic death of her son Jamal Edwards MBE.

Brenda opened up about the heartbreaking loss of her son and her return to the daytime panel show in a clip from the new interview with co-star Coleen Nolan. The presenter thanked her fellow Loose Women panelists for their support in the aftermath of her son’s passing.

Music mogul Jamal passed away in February of a “sudden heart attack”, aged just 31. As the founder of new music platform SBTV, he helped to launch the careers of Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé and Jessie J.

Tributes poured in for the entrepreneur following news of his death, with the official YouTube Twitter account saying that the industry had "lost a legend". Loose Women's Denise Welch said: "My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can't bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother."

The Mirror reports Good Morning Britain host Richard Arnold confirmed Brenda's return on Monday's show, while Brenda herself revealed in an emotional clip that she felt she "needed" to return to the show and the time was right, explaining that it was a part of Jamal's life just as much as hers.

Brenda tells Coleen in the preview clip: "It has been great having the ladies there and that is something which has been a big part of my life, and the kids' lives. I need to return. It's not even want to, I need to return."

She added: "I've missed everyone but I thank you for supporting me, and being there at the end of the phone with me."

The interview is set to air in full on Monday’s episode of Loose Women. Tuesday will then see Brenda make her comeback on the panel for the first time since Jamal's death, according to GMB's Richard.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
