Loose Women's Brenda Edwards reports troll to police after vile racist abuse

Loose Women 's Brenda Edwards says she's reported a vile troll to police after becoming sick of their racist abuse.

The former X Factor star spoke out on today's show as she discussed trolling with Andrea McLean, Denise Welch and Kéllé Bryan.

Brenda, 51, said that just recently she got the police involved after being subjected to disgusting racial slurs online.

She shared her own experiences after a clip of Meghan Markle talking about being the "most trolled person in the world" was played on the ITV show.

Brenda revealed: "Just recently in the last couple of weeks someone trolled me online, but it was racial abuse."

She added: "When you want to bring colour into it and use that as a weapon, someone basically told me to go back where I originally came from.

"I thought I was a strong person but I found it was chipping away at me mentally."

Brenda said she decided to take a stand against the troll by reporting them to the police.

The singer said: "I've had so much racial abuse over the years and I'm a strong believer that if you don't say something it'll come back."

She went on: "People need to be aware of the mental effect this can have at someone.

"I reported it to the police as a racial abuse crime because I'm not going to stand for it."

The rest of the panel opened up about their own experiences.

Denise talked about how trolls hide in plain sight in their day-to-day lives, saying her husband Lincoln Townley recently tracked one down, who then begged him not to reveal what he was doing as his wife and children didn't know.

Andrea blasted trolls as "ugly dementors", saying she had been targeted by "middle aged women" who would pretend to be nice at the school gates.

Kelle said: "To me, they are faceless bullies.

"You've got to call it out and shame them for their behaviour otherwise they'll think they can get away with it and continue to do it."
