Loose Women's Andrea says SAS trial sparked 'tsunami' of emotion after TV meltdown

Andrea McLean is overwhelmed by a “tsunami” of emotion and breaks down in tears on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The Loose Women star gets visibly upset when she is yelled at during a fighting task by chief instructor Ant Middleton.

On the Channel 4 show, for Stand Up to Cancer, he tells his ex-SAS sidekicks: “She’s f***ing petrified to be here – we could crack her quite easily, I reckon.”

Brought in for interrogation, Andrea, 49, admits: “Just very scared. I’m not very good at being shouted at. Just because of some things that have happened before. I’ve put it away very nicely in a box...”

She said later: “Oh my God, it was like a tsunami of just ‘don’t mess up’ because if I mess up, it all comes back.”

On tomorrow’s show, Middleton tells her: “That’s f***ing baggage you’re dragging around – not a f***ing box. You need to deal with it.”

It was always going to be a big challenge. The Mirror reported earlier this month that, in the opening episode, ex-SAS soldier and chief instructor Ant Middleton warned the stars: “We’re going to the pits of hell and most of you are going to burst into flames.”

He believes in brutal honesty, saying: “We have a tendency to complicate life and complicate ourselves. All I’m doing is stripping it down to the simple realities. If you get it wrong, you’re gonna die.”

Fellow SAS trainer Ollie Ollerton joked that the celebrities were treated differently to the show’s usual contestants, explaining: “When I say that, I mean we smiled at them before we smashed them.”
