Loose Women fans back ‘brave’ Gloria Hunniford as she apologises for sobbing over daughter’s death

Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford broke down in floods of tears after celebrating the life of her daughter Caron Keating, who passed away in 2004 after a battle with breast cancer at the age of 41. Caron would have been 60 years old on Wednesday, October 5 and therefore, her mother paid tribute to her on the ITV daytime show.

After watching a segment dedicated to Caron, Gloria, 82, teared up and said: "I find it very emotional when I see lots of clips of her - moving, living, laughing" before apologising to the audience for crying. She was quickly reassured by co-stars Christine Bleakley, Coleen Nolan and Dame Kelly Holmes.

Wiping the tears away from her eyes, Gloria then described her late daughter as a "very special girl who loved life". She recalled how Caron was the life and soul of a party and would usually be found "up on the table dancing around".

Discussing their own memories of Caron, who is perhaps best known for her roles on Blue Peter and This Morning, Christine said that she found her "really inspiring". Coleen, meanwhile, commented on how "it didn't matter who you were, [Caron] was just a lovely, down-to-earth person."

Warmed by the love from her co-stars, Gloria said that Caron was "the woman in this world that [she] loved talking to the most". She called her "beautiful" and someone who was "unaware of how beautiful she was". The Irish TV presenter expressed her pride for what her daughter achieved but said that she was "taken too soon".

Loose Women viewers quickly took to social media to share their support for Gloria. One person said "I think Caron Keating would still be on the telly today. She was good at what she did. Much love to Gloria & the family today."

In a similar vain, another commented: "Thank you Gloria for sharing your celebration for Caron with us. Incredibly moving. She was my Blue Peter generation, sure I still have the album somewhere with that outfit in! Best wishes. Xx"

Elsewhere, someone described their sadness for Gloria and said: "Awww I feel sad that Gloria Hunniford just apologised for crying at the loss of Caron. I even had tears in my eyes."
