It was a bit of a chaotic afternoon on Loose Women this Monday (April 28) when a mobile phone ringing in the audience caused a moment of panic among the panel.
Jane Moore was hosting the show, joined by Linda Robson, Myleene Klass, and Brenda Edwards. They were deep in a discussion about how taking a break can actually strengthen relationships when, just as Brenda shared, “I did try that once,” a phone started blaring in the background, reported the Express.
Myleene didn’t miss a beat, cracking a joke: “It’s the lawyers,” which set off laughter around the studio and among the panel. Jane later addressed the interruption, saying: “I think we’ve sorted out the phone. That’s the perils of live television, which we were talking about earlier.”
The phone mishap comes just after the show faced some backlash from viewers over last Friday’s (April 25) episode, when Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mum, appeared to promote her memoir Matriarch and open up about her cancer battle.
While the interview itself had been heavily teased, some fans were left disappointed, especially with how the segment on “the importance of friendship” was handled. Social media lit up with criticism, with one viewer complaining: “Omg, a pre-record! #LooseWomen – the way you promo’d that should be viewed as the equivalent of clickbait…. (I’m turning over out of principle),” according to Belfast Live.
Others were quick to point fingers at how the interview was conducted. One viewer posted: “Sorry but @CharleneWhite should of done the interview with #tinaknowles alone. Jane sucked the energy out of the room! #LooseWomen.”
Another added: “God, you can tell Jane was disinterested in Tina Knowles, and her frostiness was palpable. Also, what was with Coleen and her catty comment? Clearly, these women don’t like to celebrate successful women from different backgrounds than them.”
Despite the recent hiccups — both technical and otherwise — Loose Women continues to pull in viewers with its lively panel and unpredictable live TV moments. Monday’s phone blunder might have been a small blip, but it shows anything can happen once those cameras start rolling.
