Loose Women cancelled for Cheltenham Festival as fans caught off guard

Loose Women fans were caught off guard on Tuesday when they tuned into expecting to see the show, only for it not to be on TV.

And it gets worse for devotees of the daytime talk show as not only was it missing from schedules today, it won't be on for the rest of the week.

Just like in years gone by, the long-running series has been shunted off air to make way for the Cheltenham Festival, with live coverage from the annual horse racing event running from 1 - 4.30pm every day.

But, while in the past there has been shorter episodes of Loose Women to accommodate Cheltenham, this time round it's been scrapped altogether, with the ITV News taking its usual 12.30 slot.

And, while some viewers wasted no time in sharing their pleasure at the panel show not being on, others argued that the racing should be on another one of ITV's numerous channels.

All for it not being on, one Twitter user posted: "The fact im off work this week and the fact #LooseWomen gets taken off the air for #Cheltenham2021 is one of they great moments where the stars align."

In agreement, another tweeted: "Best thing what could happen cancel loosewomen all together."

Others weren't quite so pleased that Loose Women had been pulled, with one commenting: " @loosewomen gutted not on today" and, demanding to know why, another tweeted: "Where is loose women please?"

Loose Women isn't the only programme to be impacted by Cheltenham coverage. While The Chase will air in its usual 4pm slot, Tipping Point, which normally goes out at 4pm, will be shortened with a best of show airing at 4.30pm.

And Judge Rinder, usually on in early afternoon, is another casualty, with it too being cancelled for the rest of the week.
