Loose Women airs tribute to Ruth Langsford as she temporarily leaves the show

Ruth Langsford has announced her temporary departure from Loose Women.

The ITV presenter, who has been hosting the panel this week, is taking a long break from the show to make the switch to This Morning.

Ruth and her husband Eamonn Holmes are gearing up for a lengthy stint on the This Morning as they take over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for the summer holidays.

Co-host Denise Welch said: "I think we would all feel very guilty if we didn't remind the viewers that Ruth, of course, is leaving us for the summer to go next door to join her darling husband and do her summer of This Morning.

"So we thought we would give you a little surprise and show you your Ruth's best bits."

A special montage of Ruth, which included her dancing with a broom and telling viral sensation Jackie Weaver that she 'had no authority,' then played.

Ruth explained: "I'm not leaving, because normally when you do a best bits everyone goes, 'Thank you, it's been lovely working with you.'

"I'm going next door, Eamonn and I will be on This Morning for about six weeks then I will be back.

"But I'll be talking to you all every day because we do the handovers!"

It comes after the pair were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary at the start of this year, with ITV announcing they would be hosting This Morning's Friday show with Eamonnn and Holmes standing in for "key holidays" instead.

However, fans were left disappointed when Ruth and Eamonn failed to return to the famous sofa for half term in May. You can read more on this here.

At the time, ITV confirmed to WalesOnline that Ruth and Eamonn would be making a comeback later in the year.
