'Loose roof' forces police to close major roads near Leeds station

A big chunk of Leeds city centre near to the train station was cordoned off on Sunday afternoon (21/07) by police amid reports of a 'loose roof'.

The loose roof was seen as a major safety hazard, and a huge presence from police and fire services could be seen in City Square.

The potential safety hazard saw police close several roads in Leeds city centre, including sections of Swinegate and Boar Lane, close to the station.

The cordon also covered a section of the city centre loop, affecting traffic.

Emergency services held the huge cordon for around two hours before the area reopened mid-afternoon.
