Loose Men Viewers Spot Craig Doyle’s Slip-Up That Accidentally Exposed ITV’s “Live” Illusion

Loose Men fans were left raising eyebrows after host Craig Doyle made a rather awkward slip-up that revealed Thursday’s show wasn’t quite as live as it seemed.

Ahead of the 15 May episode, Craig took to Instagram to hype up the upcoming panel, which included Sam Thompson, Earl Charles Spencer, and Dr Amir Khan, and shared a behind-the-scenes snap. Nothing unusual there, except for one key detail: everyone in the photo was wearing the exact same outfits they had on during the episode that aired the next day, reported Entertainment Daily.

His caption read: “We’re back for another episode of Loose Men tomorrow! Tune in from 12:30 pm on ITV and ITVX.” That’s when fans quickly clocked that the timeline didn’t add up, pointing out that the post clearly showed the episode was recorded in advance, even though ITV had presented it as a live broadcast.

To make things even more awkward, earlier in the day, This Morning featured a seemingly “live” segment where hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley crossed over to the Loose Men panel, giving viewers the strong impression the episode was happening in real-time.

It didn’t take long for viewers to call it out online. One user on X wrote: “LOL, Craig [bleep]ed up – sharing a picture of the filming of today’s #loosewomen on his Instagram yesterday, breaking @ITV‘s illusion that this is going out live.”

Others chimed in too, with one person replying: “Did you see the pretend ‘live’ link on This Morning?” Another added: “Amir already shared that it’s not live earlier today. Don’t know why they pretend otherwise, it’s ridiculous.”

Some even picked up on subtler clues. “Subtitles are grammatically correct. It’s not live,” someone commented on Facebook, while another pointed out, “That’s why we don’t cut to a live competition segment today – they didn’t know who’d be hosting it when this was filmed.”

Despite the gaffe, fans weren’t too upset. The show was still widely praised for its content and panel. “Excellent show. Great panel. Craig – great to see you on daytime telly,” one viewer shared.

Another added, “I do enjoy Loose Men. Nice to see new faces on the panel too,” while a third said, “Good line-up, especially happy to see my favourite TV doctor too.”

So, while the illusion of going live may have slipped, the show still managed to deliver – even if Craig’s Insta post gave the game away a bit early.
