Far-right activist Laura Loomer has claimed credit for the cancellation of a classified intelligence meeting between Democratic Senator Mark Warner and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The Virginia senator said Tuesday that the Trump administration blocked his scheduled oversight visit after Loomer launched what he called a campaign of baseless attacks on social media.
Warner, who serves as vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, had arranged the meeting weeks earlier at NGA headquarters in Springfield, Virginia. The meeting was supposed to be a routine oversight session with career intelligence professionals who work at the agency. Warner said he has held more than a dozen similar meetings with NGA and other intelligence agencies in Virginia under both Democratic and Republican presidents, including during Trump’s first term.
Loomer took credit for the cancellation, saying Warner was “LOOMERED” and using an acronym to add that the senator had “f–ked around and found out.” She also posted on X that the meeting between Warner and NGA Director Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth had been canceled, adding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth should fire Whitworth for insubordination. Loomer has emerged as an influential force behind a series of firings across the Trump administration, with reports suggesting she has played a role in removing more than a dozen officials from their positions.
Dangerous precedent for congressional oversight
Warner described the cancellation as a nakedly political decision that threatens the principle of civilian oversight protecting national security. He said blocking lawmakers from meeting with federal employees sets a dangerous precedent and questions whether oversight is now allowed only when it pleases the far-right fringe. The senator warned that if routine oversight can be obstructed for political reasons, no member of Congress is immune from similar interference.

The NGA is a military intelligence agency whose leadership traditionally comes from longtime intelligence officials who have advanced through military ranks. Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth has served as the eighth director of NGA since June 2022. He previously served as director of intelligence for the Joint Staff and has a 33-year career in military intelligence. Whitworth is a graduate of Duke University with a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.
Warner accused the Trump administration of being desperate to please Loomer, describing her as a figure with a long history of extreme and outlandish fringe views. He specifically mentioned her 9/11 denialism, anti-Muslim harassment campaigns, and associations with white supremacists. Loomer has openly praised Senator Joseph McCarthy and his tactics from the 1950s Red Scare while continuing to target federal officials she believes are disloyal to President Trump. The senator said he will never be deterred from carrying out his constitutional responsibilities despite the interference.
