A number of restaurants in Newcastle and Gateshead are taking on new staff members.

Among those with vacancies are Pizza Hut, Yo!, Premier Inn, Blackfriars restaurant, Dobson & Parnell and Jurys Inn.

And the positions range from waiting staff and kitchen assistants to chefs and a manager.

Here we have listed 10 vacancies , with information about salaries, where given.

Yo! - Kitchen team member

The Japanese eatery on Grainger Street, Newcastle , is looking for a kitchen team member.

If you want the job, you will need kitchen experience, the ability to communicate well, a customer focus and good team spirit.

The advert says you will get free food on your shift as well as other benefits. Salary is to be discussed.

Pizza Hut - Team members

The firm is seeking staff members to join the teams at The Gate , Newcastle, the Metro Retail Park in Gateshead, and the Silverlink Retail Park in Wallsend .

There will be a mixture of shifts, Monday to Sunday, and the salary will be "competitive".

They say the requirements are: "Blowing our guests’ minds with amazing food and service. If you’re in the kitchen, preparing delicious, tasty food to perfection.

Premier Inn - Kitchen team member

The hotel is on the look out for a staff member to join their kitchen team in Newcastle.

It says: "In this varied role, you’ll help to make sure the kitchen delivers great food for every guest.

"And if you’re keen to build a career as a chef, this is a perfect place to start. You’ll assist the head chef in all kinds of ways. You will help to prepare, cook and present food to the highest standards, on time, every time.

"From starters, to mains and deserts you will be the team member our guests rely on for a great meal with us.

"It’s vital you also take great pride keeping the kitchen and equipment clean and tidy, and in return, we’ll provide you with all the tools, training and equipment you need to deliver great food.

"You don’t need previous experience to join us in this role. It’s all about what you can bring as a person."

Yolo Townhouse Newcastle is in search for the Next Bar stars.

Experience with cocktails and service is a bonus but not essential as all training will be given.

The job will be permanent and will offer a salary of £7.70 to £8.21 an hour.

Sandman Signature Hotel, Newcastle (Newcastle Chronicle)

Sandman Signature Hotel - Restaurant general manager

The Newcastle City Centre hotel has a vacancy for a full-time restaurant manager, who would receive a salary of  £30,000 to £35,000 a year.

Duties will include managing overall food and beverage at the site, conducting regular stock counts, appraising employees and maintaining performance management systems.

If you want to apply for this role, you will need to have three years of experience in restaurant management.

The Newcastle restaurant is seeking part-time waiting staff who are "enthusiastic, motivated and with a passion for food and customer service".

They further  say: "You must have great organisation skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Good knowledge of food and wine is also essential to these roles.

The restaurant on Ponteland Road, Kenton Bank, Newcastle, will offer a competitive salary for this full-time role.

Jurys Inn Gateshead - Food and beverage crew

The hotel on South Shore Road, along the Gateshead quayside, is looking for a part-time food and beverage crew member to work in its bar and restaurant areas.

The job will involve serving food and drinks, customer service, responding to customer requests, dealing with any complaints in "a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring guest satisfaction at all times", and ensuring all cash, charge , float and till procedures are carried out correctly.

They are offering National Minimum Wage, plus company benefits.

Dobbies Garden Centres - Commis chef

The centre in Ponteland wants to fill the position of a full-time commis chef in its restaurant.

The company says: "Our commis chefs support the kitchen in all areas of food production/preparation, cleaning and ensuring high levels of service all within company guidelines and statutory requirements e.g. health and safety; food hygiene etc.

"Our restaurants work from scratch, producing a full range of menu items from breakfast, lunch and evening meals.  This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to gain skills and experience in a full-service operation.

"To be a successful commis chef you will be passionate about food and enjoy working with fresh ingredients. You will be able to work well as part of a small team and under the guidance of our head chef but also have the ability to work on your own initiative when required.

"You will be responsible for preparing hot and cold food throughout the day, including daily specials for our customers. Along with general kitchen duties such as housekeeping, ordering stock, controlling stock levels and wastage, you should be well organised and have excellent food hygiene and presentation standards.

"Holding a relevant food safety qualification would be an advantage however not essential as training will be provided."
