In a look at the NFL’s highest paid players, 56 guys are making $15 million a season in average annual salary, according to overthecap.com, a site that tracks NFL player contracts.
Recently, USA TODAY took an in-depth look at the NFL’s 20 highest paid players, regardless of position, based on their average annual salary.
On the top-20 list, former Georgia quarterback Matt Stafford, who has spent his entire career with the Detroit Lions, is currently the eighth highest paid NFL player per year, earning an average annual salary of $27 million.
A note for Falcons fans reading this: Matt Ryan ranks fifth in average annual salary at $30 million.
In listing the highest paid NFL running backs per average annual salary, former Georgia ball carrier Todd Gurley holds the top spot. With his four-year, $57 million contract, the Los Angeles Rams superstar is earning an average of $14.4 million per year.
