Ally McCoist has stated Rangers' players looked like "wee boys" as he demanded they take responsibility after Russell Martin was sacked.
Ibrox officials dismissed Martin on Sunday evening after the 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
For McCoist, Rangers were outran and outfought by Falkirk, with the Ibrox hero branding the club a "wounded animal but anything but dangerous".
While the pundit believes Martin has rightly paid the price for the disastrous start to the season, he also called on the players to take responsibility after the manager's exit.
Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "Do you know what I think? I think probably the new owners and certainly the old management staff probably underestimated the size of the job and the task.
"I think there are a lot of people just look and Scottish football and think, 'Rangers and Celtic will win their games and that's it finished because that is what they do'.
"But as you know, football is a lot more difficult than that and a lot harder than that.

"I just think that aligned to really poor business in the transfer market in terms of recruitment.
"It's easy to blame the manager; that's where the buck stops, that is where the responsibility is, at the manager's door. We all know that is what happens.
"But the players have got to take some responsibility as well. Some of the defending...
"Sometimes when you get on the pitch, you have got to take responsibility, and Rangers just look like wee boys.
"Falkirk outran Rangers, they outfought Rangers. And that can happen occasionally but it's been happening on a regular basis. Not good enough."
McCoist added: "Rangers are a wounded animal but look anything but dangerous."
