Bungling roadmen layed a shiny new tar surface - without fixing the potholes underneath.
And the holes simply appeared again as soon as traffic began to drive over it.
Oddly Renfrewshire Council is now claiming - in August - the road team had to do it that way before the weather turns.

The debacle will mean another trip to repair the holes in Auchenclioch and Clevans Roads in Bridge of Weir.
Local Councillor James MacLaren has hit out at the Council for a “total waste of money”.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist representative says he “couldn’t believe” what has happened.

He says this failure could well cause damage to vehicles, given the size of the potholes.
Councillor MacLaren had also recently reported a “monster” pothole near to Barnbrock Farm, which he was amazed Renfrewshire Council hadn’t marked for an emergency repair.
He is now calling on the Council to urgently explain why these potholes have not been repaired before taxpayers money was spent on surface dressing.

Cllr MacLaren said: “I could scarcely believe that these potholes had not been repaired on these roads, while a surface dressing was applied.
“Potholes continue to be one of the biggest complaints from constituents. This surface dressing is a total waste of money if you are not going to fill in potholes before doing so.
“This could cause major damage to vehicles using this road.

“Council officials owe Renfrewshire council taxpayers an urgent explanation. It is common sense to repair any potholes before applying surface dressing to the road.
“Our roads are in a bad enough state without jobs like this being carried out and I will be continuing to seek answers as to why this happened.”

A Renfrewshire Council spokesman said: “To ensure that the surface dressing of the road could take place before the weather conditions made this not possible, our contractor completed the works and will return as soon as possible to carry out the pothole repairs required on a very small section of the roads.”
