
MANILA, Philippines – The South Korean government donated 130 new patrol vehicles to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The turnover on Monday, May 28, was witnessed by the two countries' top cops, South Korean police chief Commissioner General Lee Chul-sung and PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde at Camp Karingal, the Quezon City Police District's main base.
In attendance too was South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man, who announced that the vehicles were given as part of their official development assistance to the country. Han also met with Duterte at Malacañang Palace on Monday.
Albayalde told reporters that the vehicles will be distributed across the country, with the following police units as recipients:
- Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management
- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group
- Anti-Kidnapping Group
- Anti-Cybercrime Group
- National Capital Region Police Office
The following police stations covering areas with established Korean communities will also receive new patrol cars:
- Angeles City
- Cebu City
- Lapu-Lapu City
- Mandaue City
- Davao City
- Baguio City
