LOOK: Raiders TE Jason Witten wears the Silver and Black for first time

For nearly two decades, we have grown accustomed to seeing Jason Witten wearing Blue and Silver on Sunday afternoons. Usually, he’s finding some way to get open on a key third down.

But after the Cowboys choose not to re-sign the future Hall of Famer, the Raiders added Witten earlier this offseason. Witten won’t be the team’s starter as Darren Waller has that position locked down. Instead, he will be a part-time player and mentor for the Raiders.

While we won’t get a chance to see Witten play until Week 1 of the regular season, the Raiders’ Twitter account gave us a sneak peak of the star tight end in the team’s uniform:

If Witten can fully embrace a reserve role with the team, the Raiders would have arguably the best tight end trio in the league with him, Waller and Foster Moreau. Witten can still contribute as a blocker and there isn’t a smarter route runner in the NFL.

Don’t be surprised if Witten works his way onto the field more than expected as he could quickly earn Derek Carr’s trust. Witten could prove to be one of the team’s better signings this offseason.
