LOOK: Patrick Mahomes wishes Quinn Ewers luck after decision to enroll at Ohio State early

The social media reactions to Quinn Ewers deciding to reclassify and enroll at Ohio State a year early were swift and varied. From current Buckeyes and former OSU personalities, to others in college football, his decision was a polarizing one.

However, there was one in particular that caught the eyes of many, and it came from current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and the NFL’s Most Valuable Player from 2018, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes, like Ewers, is a Texas native. He played his high school ball at Whitehouse High School near Tyler, Texas, and went on to star for in-state school Texas Tech in college.

So if anyone gets the bubble and expectations that can come from being from the Lonestar state, it’s Mahomes. In fact, leading up to Ewers’ decision to skip his senior year of high school and enroll at Ohio State early, he was seen working out with Mahomes and former Texas Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger just a couple of weeks prior.

Mahomes must have connected with Ewers a little during their workout sessions because he took time to wish the now class of 2021’s best prospect good luck after he released a statement about his decision on Monday.

“Good luck big dawg! Looking forward to seeing you at the next level,” tweeted Mahomes.

It’s pretty significant for arguably the NFL’s biggest star to take notice of a high school kid that should be entering his senior year. If that doesn’t tell you that Ewers made the right decision from an endorsement and name, image, and likeness standpoint, I don’t know what does.
